"It is difficult for me to put into words how fortunate I feel to have come across Merrill's advertisement two years ago. I was particularly intrigued by the fact that she specialized in trichotillomania, which I have struggled with for years. She has been incredible in helping me find ways to manage this and the problematic behavior has significantly decreased. She has introduced me to a variety of techniques that have been incredibly helpful in my life, I see this not only with trichotillomania and anxiety, but I also feel a stronger and more pervasive sense of healthfulness and balance than I have at any other point in my life.

She is also an incredibly intuitive and gifted Reiki healer and has integrated this healing modality with what I have found to be astonishing effects. I have also attended her bimonthly meditation group for about a year now and cannot recommend it enough. I have seen numerous therapists in my life and find Merrill to be exceptionally professional, considerate, compassionate, intuitive, and genuine. Never before have I walked out of a session feeling like I could literally breath easier and with such a sense of focus, balance and well being. I feel incredibly grateful and would recommend her to anyone."

"I like coming to Merrill’s so much because she stops me from pulling my lashes and helps me with my hands."

"I have suffered with anxiety, depression, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder for most of my adult life. During the course of my treatment over the years, I was able to manage the most challenging symptoms effectively with the assistance of SSRI’s.

However in 2007, my husband and I decided to try to conceive another child and I would need to go off of my medication. My psychiatrist recommended that I try Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to learn some tools for the effective and drug free management of my symptoms.

With Merrill’s expertise and guidance, I have been making strides with the management of my OCD, anxiety, and depression. In addition to her practice as a Licensed Social Worker, Merrill is also a Reiki Master. Merrill has incorporated Reiki into my treatment sessions and it has made a remarkable difference. Through energy work and practice with visualization, my sense of well being and balance has improved dramatically. I am happy to say that with her help, I have been drug free for five months and have also conceived my second daughter. I consider Merrill to have played an integral role in the achievement of our goal to expand our family. Speaking for myself and my family, I will be forever grateful for the time that I have spent in treatment with Merrill. She has proven herself to be a wise and compassionate healer."

"I have suffered from depression since childhood, but never recognized the symptoms.

When I reached adulthood (and through the urging of a close friend), I sought help in therapy. I was taking antidepressants to relieve the anxiety and undergoing therapy treatment. With little idea on how long this journey would be, I did feel I was taking a path onto the right road.

When I relocated, I knew it was imperative to find someone so that I could continue my treatment. I was fortunate to have met with Merrill, and started cognitive behavior therapy. She is knowledgeable and compassionate. Her sensitivity, guidance and understanding has helped me through some very difficult times.

My short term goal was to be able to stop medication and my long term goal was to be balanced, grounded and healthy. With Merrill's help, I met my short term goal within 2 years. I have not yet had to resort to medication.

Merrill uses effective relaxation exercises and techniques to work hand in hand with therapy. These have helped me to stay grounded. Practice with visualization and manifestation exercises, I am able to concentrate and keep focused. Today, I feel very balanced and centered. The challenges of everyday pressures that come with today's lifestyle are much more manageable. More significantly, I have learned to take care of myself.

Merrill has played a vital role in my achieving wellness for mind, body and soul."

"I had taken my daughter to an excellent therapist for more than 1 year for anxiety without very much improvement. Even when I voiced concern about obsessive behavior, neither the therapist nor the psychiatrist recognized my daughter's underlying OCD. My daughter acutely decompensated when she went away to camp and it became very obvious that she had OCD. Being a parent and a physician myself, I understood the severity of this situation and the impact it was having on all of us.

We were fortunate enough to find Merrill through the OCD Foundation. Merrill immediately evaluated our daughter and began a treatment program that was tailored to our needs. Merrill extended herself to us during this very difficult time. Our daughter was in severe crisis and Merrill treated us all with extreme compassion and professionalism. She dedicated an amazing amount of time and energy in helping us through this. She guided us towards educational resources and was very helpful in assisting us with the family dynamics that occur when a child is decompensating. She helped our whole family manage the OCD and associated depression it caused.

Most importantly, she enabled us to get our daughter to return to school on time and be functional in her daily life. Our daughter eventually got to the point where she is in control of her OCD. Merrill was also able to help our daughter address other long standing issues throughout the treatment process. I highly recommend Merrill often to anyone suffering from OCD or anxiety. She has been tremendously therapeutic for my whole family".

"My three boys have suffered from OCD since they were toddlers. When they were very young, I didn't know about OCD, I just thought their obsessions and compulsions were cute and quirky. When my oldest son was nine, I began to notice that he had some socially inappropriate compulsions. Nothing I did at home worked to stop the obsessions and compulsions. By the time my son was ten, his teachers were noticing his obsessions and compulsions and alerted me to the fact that the other children were beginning to tease him. I sought help immediately. A friend recommended that I contact Merrill. After one phone conversation, Merrill assured me that she could help my son and our family deal with his OCD.

My family was extremely fortunate to be referred to Merrill. She immediately began to educate us about OCD and was successful in guiding my oldest son through the very difficult world of OCD. Within a short period of time, we were able to get his OCD under control.

As Merrill educated our family about OCD, we began to question certain behaviors in my middle son. I didn't believe that they were OCD related because they were totally different from my oldest child's issues. After speaking with Merrill, she assured me that his behaviors were also OCD in nature, even though the behaviors were totally different from his older brother's issues. And so my middle son began the process of cognitive behavior therapy. Under Merrill's careful guidance, he has made tremendous progress.

Throughout the cognitive behavioral therapy process, Merrill has not only successfully worked with my children, but she has successfully worked with our entire family. My husband and I have both learned to identify our OCD issues and to work towards changing them. As a family, Merrill meets with us to identify what the OCD behaviors are and specific ways to change them. She has never once recommended or suggested medication as a means of therapy in our situation. Merrill's suggestions often involve changing the specific behavior once identified and using reward charts for behavior changes. My family responded very well to cognitive behavior therapy. However, there were times when the CBT was not enough and rather than resort to medication, Merrill would use her other tools, such as reiki, meditation and hypnosis to achieve the desired behavior results. Merrill has proven to be an invaluable resource to my family. She is always available for questions or concerns we have and has played an integral part in the emotional well-being of my family. Merrill continues to be an invaluable resource for us. We are extremely fortunate to have found her."

I am a 22 year old female that has battled Obsessive Compulsive Disorder since November of 1998. My journey of overcoming Obsessive Compulsive Disorder has not been easy. Intrusive thoughts, unwanted rituals and unrealistic ideas eventually left me as a prisoner in my own body. At times I’ve wanted to stop battling and give up. After being diagnosed, my family and I searched for an answer or cure to regain my control over my life. I went to more doctors than I can remember. Therapist after therapist, session after session, I left feeling that I would never regain my life or achieve any feeling of stability.

Any disorder can be a challenge. The trick is finding someone you can trust and believe is leading you down the right path. Before meeting Merrill, my general outlook on life was hopeless. I felt like I had no control over my thoughts or behaviors and felt very helpless to overcome any of it. During my sessions with Merrill, she helped me train myself to think in a different way and to break my self-defeating cycle of intrusive, uncontrollable thoughts. I have learned several techniques that have served as my foundation for me to overcome Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I have been a patient of Merrill’s for over five years and I highly recommend her to anyone who could benefit from profound self-understanding and compassion. Her insight, voice and calming personality have been a comfort to me week after week and have helped to center my life. She is truly an amazing person and a wonderful therapist.
