<p>A sense of community where people come and can receive tender loving care.  A safe space where people can take the time to do something loving for themselves.</p>
<p>A place that someone can call &#8220;home&#8221;.</p>
<p>Once upon a time I had a dream.  Now this dream is a reality.</p>
<p>A reality that is called &#8221; The Temperance Center&#8221;</p>
<p>We hope to be serving the community for many many years to come!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As we approach Thanksgiving I have been reflecting on the many things I am thankful for in my life. I would ask you to think about 5 things that you are thankful for and write it down. Any time you may get into a funk just pull out your list and reflect on it. Or better yet, add to it! You can even make it a fun sharing game during Thanksgiving whereby everyone writes down the 5 Things they are Thankful for. Then have everyone take turns sharing their five things.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Welcome to the new year!  A new year, a new beginning.  The 10 days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur is a time of Teshuvah.   A heightened time of reflection,  a time of return, a time of prayer.</p>
<p>Whether you observe this holiday or not. it is a perfect time to take a moment to pause and look within.  To reflect upon the past year asking forgiveness of others and yourself of what you would have liked to have handled differently.</p>
<p>It is an opportune time for manifestation.  Take a moment to ponder about the things you desire to change. Visualize what you would like to be different for this new year.  Explore what your hearts desire is and lead with your heart so that you may follow the path that brings you the most happiness and fulfillment,</p>
<p>It is also a time to be grateful for all the lessons that you learned about yourself this past year.  Be excited about what this new year can bring to you.  Celebrate a new you.</p>
<p>Enjoy and embrace your journey.  Accept and love yourself as you walk your beautiful path of this new year!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>During this time of year as people begin to fall back into their regular routine of work/school it is a great time to incorporate relaxation exercises to help deal with lifes daily stressors.</p>
<p>Meditating is a great way to nurture your self while calming your mind, body and soul.</p>
<p>Here is a meditative breathing exercise that you can try:</p>
<p>It takes practice to meditate for long periods of time, so you may want to try and do this at first for five- fifteen minutes.</p>
<p>Find a quiet space and put on calming/relaxing music that you enjoy.  Feel free to set a timer or music for the time you wish to mediate for.  Get comfortable sitting either in a lotus position or lying down.  Just close your eyes and notice your breath.  Watch and observe the flow of your breath.</p>
<p>Watch as your thoughts may increase for the first few minutes of meditating.  If this happens, then imagine placing them in a helium filled balloon and let them float away.  Then just gently bring yourself back to your breath.  You can repeat this as many times as you need to.  Just keep coming back to your breath.</p>
<p>As time goes on notice how focusing on your breath allows your mind and body to begin to tune out the outside world and distractions.  Notice how your body and mind begins to let go and relax.  You can do this for as long as you wish.</p>
<p>When you are ready, gently open your eyes.  Take a moment or two before you get up.</p>
<p>This breathing exercise can allow you to rejuvenate, feel refreshed, and be more focused as you go about the rest of your day.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Loving yourself unconditionally means accepting all parts of yourself.  Even the qualities, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that you wish were different should be embraced.<span id="more-9"></span></p>
<p>Many times we are kinder to others than we are to ourselves.  We often are forgiving of others faults but not our own.</p>
<p>Accept yourself as you are.  Know that it is o.k. to be imperfect.   Understand you are a work in progress.  It is important to know that your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are separate from who you really are.  Love yourself even with your faults and imperfections.  Know that the core of you is beautiful.</p>
<p>Be kind in what you say to yourself. When we are so self critical we are not being very loving to ourselves.</p>
<p>Say positive things to yourself even if you don&#8217;t believe them.  It really can make you feel better.  Make time every day to say positive affirmations to yourself!</p>
<p>You can even try the affirmation below.   Say it daily even if you don&#8217;t feel like it or believe it is true.   You may find that it really does make a difference in how you behave, think, and feel!!!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Given today&#8217;s economic climate, it is even more important to find ways to take care of oneself and reduce stress in a cost effective way. Relaxation can look very different for each individual. Figure out what is relaxing for you. If you don&#8217;t know what is relaxing then have fun experimenting!</p>
<p><span id="more-4"></span></p>
<p><strong>Here are 10 quick and easy tips that can be helpful:</strong></p>
<p>1. Take time out each day to something that you enjoy. Even if it is only for 15 minutes. It can make a difference in the quality of your day.</p>
<p>2. Take 5 minutes a day to just close your eyes and do some deep breathing.  Sometimes it even helps while your eyes are closed to visualize a color that relaxes you.</p>
<p>3. Listen to music that you enjoy. You can even dance or move with the music.</p>
<p>4. Do something once or twice a week to pamper yourself. It can be as simple as taking a bubble bath.</p>
<p>5. Exercise. Even if it is for 15 minutes a day. It can really help your mind, body, and spirit.</p>
<p>6. Don&#8217;t over-schedule. Be realistic about what can get done in a day. Most importantly don&#8217;t criticize yourself if you don&#8217;t get your whole agenda done. Most things can wait a day or two.</p>
<p>7. Laughter is a great stress reliever. Watch or read something that makes you laugh.</p>
<p>8. Get plenty of sleep. When you are rested it can help reduce stress and irritability.</p>
<p>9. Have a warm decaffeinated drink at night. It can help with avoiding late night snacking as well as soothe you.</p>
<p>10. Dim the lights in a room and light some scented candles or incense. Aromatherapy can calm the mind and the body.</p>
